You are not required to use the NHS QR system if you don't have a smart phone or don't wish to use the app.
The business is required to provide a manual check-in alternative.
TIPS for INDIVIDUALS REGARDING MASKS
Exempt individuals are not required to provide proof of medical exemption in verbal or written form. The Government has issued a guideline, not a law. You do not have to comply if you believe it is not in the best interest of your health to do so. If questioned, all you need to do is state you are exempt.
There are thousands of people in the UK who have never worn a mask anywhere for any purpose. We have entered NHS facilities (including A&E), all forms of public transport, shops, and London airports without wearing masks and seldom being questioned.
It's another story on board airplanes - as there are separate aviation laws that apply, and many people have been denied air transport for mask refusal worldwide.
